Biddeford Students Make “Magic” Sidewalks

Students mixing pervious pavement ratios

Our District Educator had a blast testing different pervious pavement mixtures with students at the Biddeford Regional Center of Technology. The lesson started with information on impervious versus pervious surfaces, different stormwater best management practices, how pervious pavement work, and local Maine sites with pervious pavement. The students then mixed different ratios of cement, gravel, and water to determine what creates the best pervious pavement for both durability and water passage.

This lesson was funded by the City of Biddeford’s stormwater program as part of their participation in the Interlocal Stormwater Working Group.
