Forest Pests

There is at least one invasive forest pest threat for all of Maine’s many species of trees. To prevent the loss of our forests and the economic, recreational, and environmental impacts that would come with it, we must take measures to protect Maine’s forests from insects and diseases it cannot fight against alone.

Plants

There are many plants not native to Maine but co-exist with our native plants. Other plants, considered invasive, are not from Maine and can cause harm to the economy, environment, and human health. Maine has invasive plants on land and in our water bodies.
