Envirothon Competition
This environmental competition is conducted throughout Maine in the spring.  High school students test their knowledge of natural resources and current environmental issues in an outdoor setting.  Teams of three to five students are tested at five stations:  Wildlife, Aquatics, Forestry, Soils, and a Current Natural Resources Issue.

Soil & Water Conservation Districts across Maine host regional competitions, with the top three teams from each attending the state competition.  The winner of the state competition is eligible to attend the national competition.

In 2010, Cumberland County SWCD will collaborate with its counterparts in York, Oxford, Androscoggin, and Franklin counties to plan the southern regional Envirothon competition. Below are details about 2010 events.  To learn more, visit the Maine Envirothon website at www.maineenvirothon.org.
